When I was a kid I had a dog that was a big softie and a ginger cat that I found when it was a kitten (it was from a ferral litter) we also had other cats and chooks on the place (looked like a zoo at times). The only animal the cat was friendly with, other than me was the dog (no idea why they got along). The dog liked Gingernuts and would look so pathetic if you eat one and did not give him one. The cat also liked to nibble on Gingernuts when I was eating them while watching TV. One day I gave one to the dog not realising the cat had followed me. The dog would take it out of my mouth using just his front teeth, being very careful not to get dog slobber on me. Well the cat was quick to grab the end I had been holding when I let go. So the dog was on one end of the Gingernut and the cat was on the other. Neither was going to let go. Eventually the dog, due to having more slobber, lost and the cat sat and finished off her two thirds. The dog looked at the cat then at me then at the cat, as if to say "that was mine!" he was not dumb enough to try and take it off the cat. I ended up giving him another one as he looked so sad. He was so happy you would have thought I had given him a large roast lamb or something. With Gingernuts you could get him to do anything.
